Miami Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal and players weigh in after the Canes’ game. Tune in for what they are saying: Mario Cristobal Post-Wake Forest Q&A Mario Cristobal: It was good to come here for our second conference game of the season, win on the road and start fast. It felt like we were creating considerable separation, but a couple of senseless penalties stopped our momentum and allowed Wake Forest to regain some of it. Our defense won at the line of scrimmage and produced some impressive stops, including an interception. We also would have forced a fumble if it hadn’t been erased by a penalty. The defense certainly closed out the game. All in all, we had some positive moments and identified some things that require work. Q: Darian Mensah and the offense were nearly flawless during the first half but then had four consecutive three-and-outs before the final possession. What changed? Cristobal: Execution. It’s that simple. Wake Forest changed some of its looks, but not significantly enough to alter how we should have performed. Our third downs were manageable during the first half. We had a few difficult ones on the opening drive and converted them, but during those four second-half possessions, we repeatedly found ourselves in difficult situations.
