Court orders force Kenya Football Federation to postpone Premier League start ⚽
Legal cases filed in courts in Murang’a, Nairobi, and Kiambu created uncertainty over whether matches could lawfully go ahead. Kariobangi Sharks filed an application at the Milimani High Court Tribunal on September 16 seeking to stop the league's start. A temporary injunction from the Murang’a High Court then barred the federation from holding matches or recognizing results until a play-off is held between Kariobangi Sharks and Mombasa United. Kariobangi Sharks ended the previous season as the third-lowest club in the Premier League, while Mombasa United was the third-highest in the National Super League without automatic promotion. Another order from the Kiambu High Court directed the federation to include Mombasa United as the 18th team in revised provisional fixtures. The federation stated that proceeding with matches posed significant risks, including the potential nullification of game results.
