“A really nice goal” – Mohammed Fuseini reacts to dramatic first Derby strike
Mohammed Fuseini was delighted to score his first goal for Derby County after his dramatic stoppage-time equaliser earned the Rams a 1-1 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor. The Ghanaian winger came off the bench and produced a composed finish late in the game to rescue a point for Derby after Zeki Amdouni had given Burnley the lead in the first half. Fuseini, who joined Derby on loan from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise on transfer deadline day, was pleased with the quality of his finish and the impact it had on the game. “It was a really nice goal. A good strike from me,” Fuseini told Derby County’s official media after the match. The 24-year-old revealed that he initially came on as a No. 10 before moving to the wing, with manager John Eustace instructing him to make runs and express himself. “First, I came on as a number 10 to run in behind a lot, but I didn’t stay there for too long as I moved to the wings. The coach told me to make runs and play my football, which I did and got the goal,” he said. Fuseini’s equaliser arrived after Derby had struggled to find a way through Burnley’s defence for much of the game, with the Ghanaian making the most of his opportunity when it came.
